Ten innovative companies pitch for Impact55 glory

Companies from a range of sectors including agriculture, medical, construction and food production are pitching for a major new award hosted by law firm HCR Hewitsons. The Impact55 funding competition will see ten businesses pitch for cash and kudos at an event in February.

They shortlisted companies have already enjoyed funding success; now they are seeking support to prepare for the next stage of their growth journey. Shortlisted are:

  • Barocal – developing breakthrough cooling & heating technologies
  • Biotryp Therapeutics – breaking down bacterial defences
  • Cambridge Nucleomics – digitising RNA
  • Cellcraft – specialising in production systems to sustainably craft meat
  • Cellexcel – Enabling the adoption of biomaterials in demanding environments and applications to reduce embedded carbon emissions
  • Directed Systems – Medical software, data science and physiological modelling to revolutionise patient outcomes in hospital & emergency care
  • Lambda Energy – developed a light changing spray coating for greenhouse panels that can increase crop yields by 20 per cent
  • Nanomation Ltd – bringing forward the benefits of nanotechnology through automation software
  • Spotta – Detecting and battling harmful pests in a range of environments from infested hotel rooms to Middle Eastern deserts
  • VundaHaus – Prefabricated insulation to create warm, healthy, low carbon homes.

Designed to support businesses in Cambridgeshire who are using technology to create a positive social or environmental impact, the Impact55 programme will provide £25,000 of legal advice to the business judged to be making the most impact, is investible and has potential for growth. Up to three runners up will each receive £10,000 of advice. HCR Hewitsons will be sharing more information about each of the shortlisted businesses on social media in the coming weeks.
