The company is starting out locally with space at the Bradfield Centre on Cambridge Science Park with plans to expand.

It hopes to have five to 10 people in the UK within the next 12 months. The company currently has 30 people on its team, with two of them focusing full-time on the UK market. Lightbringer plans to expand into the US later this year.

The company says: “Cambridge is an extremely exciting hub for innovation and technology with an impressive history rooted in its universities.

“We’re very impressed by the amount of IP that spins out from here on a yearly basis. At the same time, Cambridge has a very welcoming and close-knit community. We’ve also experienced great traction for our service from people we’ve met.

“Although not a competitor, Cambridge-based Luminance is another exciting example of the rapid changes that are happening in innovation and knowledge work as a result of new AI technologies.”

Founder and CEO, Dominic Davies, studied software engineering at Imperial College then transitioned into a career as a Patent Attorney, and is now also an entrepreneur.

Lightbringer says it is challenging the traditional patent industry and flags up what it calls “the growing importance of AI in the legal tech space.”
