Momentum grows for ever-wider involvement in Cambridge Tech Week
Cambridge Wireless is working with the University of East Anglia in Norwich for an April showcase designed to ensure cross-region buy-in to CTW. The pre-event to encourage widespread collaboration for CTW is being held on April 23 (starting 5.30pm) at UEA’s Sainsbury Centre in Norfolk Road, Norwich.
Dr Soraya Jones, Royal Society Entrepreneur in Residence for the University of East Anglia, is organising the event. She told Business Weekly: “As one of the ambassadors for Cambridge Tech Week 2024, I am so pleased to see the East of England collaboration event being hosted and sponsored by the UEA.
“This is an event to foster collaboration between regions and showcase the best of innovation from the East of England to the world outside. Together, working with our strengths across the region, we can innovate, invest and grow to achieve continued success.”
Some great speakers have been lined up for the pre-event, including serial entrepreneur Martin Frost who helped robotics pioneer – Cambridge’s CMR Surgical – make key contacts globally and raise so much cash that the company soared to unicorn status.
He is joined on the panel by Hannah Smith (Investment Director & MD at Anglia Capital Group), Sheng Qi (Professor of Pharmaceutical Material Science and Technology, University of East Anglia), Dr Jerry Wu, (Head of Investment at TusPark UK, the Chinese company which invested millions establishing the Bio-Innovation Centre at Cambridge Science Park), and Mike Rigby (CEO, Eastern Promise – a podcast that explores the full potential of the East of England).
Chris Bruce, Chair of Cambridge Tech Week is excited by the early enthusiasm for CTW. He said: “This pre-event function speaks volumes for the opportunity for collaboration and generating even more interest in CTW24. Cambridge Tech Week itself is an opportunity to reach out across the East of England, the rest of the UK and internationally to encourage the Global Tech and investment community to meet in Cambridge in September.”
