National law firm Mills & Reeve advised Cambridge-based Salesforce DevOps solutions provider, Gearset, on its first acquisition as part of an ambitious growth strategy. Gearset bought London-based Clayton, a cutting-edge code analysis platform designed specifically for Salesforce, following years of rapid growth, fuelled by a $55 million growth investment from Silversmith Capital Partners.

The cash injection accelerated Gearset’s product development and already rapid customer growth, taking the company beyond the milestone of 2,500 customers – four times more than any other Salesforce DevOps vendor.

The acquisition of Clayton is Gearset’s maiden acquisition. The integration of Claytonʼs technology into Gearsetʼs DevOps suite will enable Salesforce teams to quickly and easily build secure and well architected applications, while underscoring Gearsetʼs commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions that optimise the entire DevOps lifecycle.

The Mills & Reeve team was led by partner Jonathan Greenwood and principal associate Hayley Simonds.

Kevin Boyle, CEO at Gearset, said: “Gearset’s first acquisition is a significant milestone for the company and our customers. I’m grateful to Mills & Reeve for their support and pleased to see several months of hard work come to successful fruition.”

Greenwood added: “It was a privilege to work with the Gearset team on their maiden acquisition. The merger provides the enlarged business with a fantastic platform to expand their Salesforce DevOps offering, opening new opportunities and allowing the company to capitalise on its growth to date. I look forward to watching the group develop in the future.”
