Material whirl as Kinabase expands into US software sector with Utah deal
The expansion is centred on a collaboration with bespoke furniture design studio MTRL – pronounced ‘Material’ – in Park City, Utah and showcases the platform’s adaptability and ability to meet the needs of diverse industries on a global scale.
MTRL, known for its innovative fusion of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, caters to high-profile clients including technology firms and legal offices.
Despite its strengths, the studio faced operational inefficiencies, relying on spreadsheets and email for project management. These outdated methods led to frequent data errors, duplicated workloads, and communication challenges, particularly across remote teams.
Kinabase provided a transformative solution by centralising MTRL’s workflows and streamlining operations. By reducing data errors, offering a unified source for project information, and automating repetitive tasks, the platform enabled the team to focus on the creative processes that drive their high-quality designs.
The improved collaboration between departments has ensured smoother transitions between project phases, and access to historical data has enhanced planning and decision-making. Notably, the system has proven cost-effective, covering its annual expenses within weeks through the time savings it enabled.
The success of this expansion underscores Kinabase’s commitment to empowering businesses with innovative, efficient, and flexible technology. By delivering solutions that adapt to the unique challenges of businesses like MTRL, Kinabase has demonstrated its ability to create meaningful and lasting impact.
Managing Director Jason Mashinchi said: “It’s been a pleasure working with MTRL to transform their operations and deliver cost savings, building on our recent success with our Innovate UK AI project. Expanding internationally is part of our ambitious growth plans for Kinabase, and we’re only just getting started on our mission to help SMEs achieve more.”
Mashinchi’s leadership at Cambridge Kinetics was further recognised recently when he was awarded Young Business Person of the Year at the SMEs National Business Awards at Wembley Stadium. The accolade reflects his vision and the company’s commitment to empowering businesses to thrive, capping off a landmark year for the young company as it prepares to build on this momentum in 2025.
Nicholas Miller MTRL’s Senior Design Engineer praised Kinabase’s impact, saying: “Since using Kinabase, we've gained a far better method of delivering results because it can easily adapt to the needs of our changing product lineup. We don't have to worry about being tied to legacy systems or pay for costly development to modify our business software.”
As Kinabase continues to expand into new markets, its success with companies like MTRL showcases its potential to shape the future of business software solutions, the company believes.
