Founded in 1947, J A Kemp is today one of the largest European intellectual property firms, with offices in London, Oxford, Cambridge and Paris. It has also had a base in Munich since the opening of the European Patent Office in the 1970s.

The expansion in Cambridge, from a small office on Station Road in 2016, to over 5,000 sq ft at One Cambridge Square is testament to both the profusion of innovation in and around Cambridge and the confidence placed in the firm’s attorneys to provide pragmatic advice to support the best commercial outcome.

As well as advising clients in the Cambridge area and the wider hinterland, the local team is active in the Cambridge ecosystem, mentoring entrepreneurs, founders and startup companies from the universities and beyond and working with many local accelerators and venture builders to help their members navigate the world of IP.

The building has an EPC rating of A (15) and was chosen in accordance with the firm’s Energy and Environmental Management Policy (ISO 14001/50001). J A Kemp movs in on March 18.

Partner Stephen Hodsdon, a UK Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, commented: “J A Kemp’s Cambridge team are looking forward to moving into the newly-completed building at One Cambridge Square. The larger space will accommodate our growing presence in Cambridge and represents several leaps forward from our first office on Station Road only eight years ago.”
