Gillvray Health creates history with Cambridge’s first Lifestyle Medicine Clinic
A member of the Cambridge Judge Business School Accelerator Programme, Gillvray Health plans to launch similar clinics elsewhere in the UK and expand worldwide over time.
Founded by CEO Dr Claire Gillvray (Lifestyle Medicine Lead for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust – with expertise in psychiatry, general practice, and sports medicine) and Lucy Hibben (breath coach, meditation teacher and senior yoga instructor), Gillvray Health combines traditional medicine with holistic care.
The Hills Road clinic provides multiple services under one roof, including:-
• 1:1 appointments and treatment plans for individuals struggling with a chronic disease or simply looking to optimise their health and longevity
• Workshops and tailored events for corporations looking to improve employee wellbeing
• Lifestyle medicine training seminars for clinicians and therapists
The clinic has been founded to become the Centre of Excellence for lifestyle medicine for Cambridge, providing a referral pathway for clinicians, and will provide a blueprint for expansion into other areas in the UK and global markets.
Dr Gillvray said: “Lifestyle Medicine is the future of healthcare. With rising numbers of people struggling with chronic disease, obesity and mental health problems, we know that we need to look beyond the use of medications and interventions and think about how we can help individuals, groups and whole populations to change their behaviours safely and with support, ensuring they are looking to the best quality research.”
Chief Operating Officer, Lucy Hibben, added: “Gillvray Health aims to educate and empower people to use their every-day behaviours to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
“The clinic will help individuals, corporations and clinicians to think about the six pillars of lifestyle medicine – nutrition, movement, sleep, connection, stress management and avoidance of negative behaviours – with the purpose of improving health and functioning.”
