Founded by CEO, Dave Meldrum, the Gateshead-headquartered company recently increased turnover to £50 million and now employs more than 200 professionals specialising in construction, civils, fabrication, M&E, fire engineering and in-house FM capability.

Dave Meldrum said: “Since establishing our first office in Gateshead in 2001, we have enjoyed 22 years of organic and sustainable growth, despite turbulent times for the industry.

“We have always diversified and evolved our services to meet the needs of our clients and the opening of our third location is the next step in ensuring we remain innovative in our methods of working and delivery of our business to benefit our clients across the UK.”

Meldrum works across a wide range of sectors, including heritage, education, manufacturing, healthcare and veterinary with recent notable projects including the full refurbishment of the Grade I listed Auckland Castle, the pioneering Transmission Dynamics engineering and warehouse facility, and the nationally acclaimed Epinay School in South Shields.

After successful completion as principal contractor of a £4m vehicle maintenance workshop in Dartford for Petit Forestier, Meldrum has just been appointed for a further new build project with the client in Motherwell. The firm also recently celebrated a win in the Considerate Contractor Awards.

The group aims to bring new employment opportunities to the region and is passionate about attracting, developing, and nurturing the skills of people in the built environment. The Meldrum Foundation supports local causes and communities and has raised over £760,000 to date.

Christian Huckstep, regional project director for Meldrum Construction, and heading up the new office, said: “Meldrum's proven ability to deliver successful projects in the South East made establishing an office here a natural step.

“We are excited to build collaborative and long-lasting relationships with clients, form new partnerships with industry professionals in the region, and provide the responsive, solution-orientated service Meldrum prides itself on in other locations.”
