You can tell a food is ‘hot’ when it appears in the mouth of a Dragon – well Dragons’ Den to be precise!

Imagine the delight of CP Packaging when the barbecue seasonings and sauces packaging it produces for a client appeared with the customer on the Dragon’s Den TV programme. If they weren’t exactly breathing fire at the accolade, CP Packaging directors were certainly flushed by the success.

The company is based at The Epicentre in Haverhill and is already wrapping up plans to scale along with its major customer. CP Packaging produces highly branded gift boxes for Birmingham-based LUMBERJAxe, run by brothers Brendan and Jaydon Manders, who were on Alan Sugar’s ‘Dragons Den’ show seeking – and securing – a £90,000 investment for 20 per cent of the company.

Kem Gokay, managing director of CP Packaging, said: “LUMBERJAxe are on a massive scale-up which has been further endorsed by their success on Dragons’ Den.

“This is very exciting and could be a key account for us by the end of this year and they very much have plans for us to be part of the scale up. This year, alone, CP Packaging has delivered 5,000 boxes to LUMBERJAxe.”

Helen Earl, Centre Manager of The EpiCentre, said: “What an accolade for Kem and his team to have their products appear on Dragons’ Den!”

CP Packaging has a turnover of £3 million; run by Kem and his brother Altan, it was started 10 years ago in north London. Kem and his family moved to the village of Clare near Haverhill in 2019 and following a period of working at home during the pandemic set up at The EpiCentre in 2024.
