Owned by Norfolk County Council, the 2,000 sq ft building, whose 36-seat Paston Room was a popular backdrop for civil marriage ceremonies, is for sale in an online timed auction auction with SDL Property Auctions, part of Eddisons, on February 12.

With the sale two days before Valentine’s Day, the auctioneer is confident the building will be swiftly wedded to a buyer.

Andrew Parker, auctioneer and partner at SDL Property Auctions, said: “This historic building holds a special place in the hearts of many couples and if anyone does fancy buying the place where they tied the knot, this is certainly a unique opportunity.

“That said, the property is suitable for many other uses, subject to a buyer gaining the necessary planning consent. It’s a single-storey building on a quarter of an acre site that’s close to the railway station and North Walsham’s busy town centre.

“The town itself is also in a great location and popular with visitors as the gateway to the Broads National Park and to the wonderful North Norfolk coastline.”

The timed online auction will open for bidding at 12 noon on February 12, closing at 2pm the following day.
