An artificial mountain, complete with an array of rocks and boulders, has been fashioned in Milton Keynes in a special venture by the Big Rock Climbing Company.
The new £1 million centre, which opens its doors on Sunday, has been created inside a unit on Newmarket Court – an industrial park in Kingston.
It offers the latest in climbing experiences and activities for all capabilities, from beginners to serious climbers.
The centre features a large bouldering area, a beginners’ section and group area, and the principal feature – an impressive ‘Big Rock’ with 12 metre high walls extending from below ground level to ceiling height criss-crossed with dozens of hand and foot holds.
Altogether the centre boasts 1250 sq m of indoor climbing facilities. Other features are a café, rest area, viewing gallery and changing facilities. It will also offer equipment hire, cycle racks, a shop stocking climbing gear and even free WiFi connection.
