Army officer on front line of Cambridge legal action

Peter Lee

A former British Army infantry officer who saw action in Iraq and the Balkans has joined the front line of an intensifying fight for commercial law supremacy in the Cambridge UK technology cluster.

Peter Lee, who qualified as a solicitor after leaving the Army, has joined Taylor Vinters’ fast-growing commercial & technology team from international law firm Bird & Bird.

Together with his legal qualifications Lee has a degree in applied marine biology and an MBA.

The Taylor Vinters commercial & technology team had growth of 35 per cent last year and Lee is the first of three key hires, the firm has revealed.

He specialises in providing advice on commercial contracts, intellectual property arrangements; IT solutions and outsourcing projects; distribution arrangements and services contracts.

Taylor Vinters’ technology head, Patrick Farrant, said: “Peter brings valuable global IT and open source software experience to the team, which is demanded by many of our fast-growth tech startup, established (VC-backed), multinational and public sector/charity clients.

“He is the first of three planned Cambridge tech recruits off the back of a growth of 35 per cent last year. He really understands the commercial drivers affecting the tech sector and will be a great asset to our business.”
