Greenwoods gets Cambridge base through merger

Robert Dillarstone, Managing Director, Greenwoods Solicitors LLP

Peterborough law firm, Greenwoods Solicitors LLP, has merged with Walker Wallis in Cambridge.

As a result of the merger, Greenwoods now has a Cambridge office at Cambridge Business Park. The merged firm will operate under the Greenwoods name and brand.

Walker Wallis’s directors, Duncan Walker and Huw Wallis, are now directors and members of Greenwoods Solicitors LLP; Walker in the Corporate & Commercial team, and Wallis as Head of Commercial Dispute Resolution.

Robert Dillarstone, Greenwoods’ Managing Director, said: “Merging with Walker Wallis is great news for both firms - Greenwoods now has the opportunity to access the Cambridge marketplace from a position of strength whilst Walker Wallis clients are able to enjoy a wider range of services and skills.”

“Duncan and Huw are top drawer lawyers and we all feel that there is a very good fit between our respective firms. We all hit it off from the word go, principally because our approach to business is the same. Despite these continuing tough economic times, we are viewing the future with much anticipation and excitement.”

Talking about the decision to merge, Duncan Walker and Huw Wallis said: “During discussions at the end of last year, it became clear that Greenwoods and Walker Wallis shared the same approach to running and developing their businesses. Our businesses held the same values and the cultures of the two firms mirrored each other. Working together we can be an even more powerful force in the legal marketplace.”

Walker Wallis had been enjoying a very strong first two years and was at a “crossroads” in terms of its next steps for growth. As a result, it was exactly the right time to merge. Greenwoods is now looking to build on its strengths in Peterborough whilst supporting and developing its Cambridge office to reach its full potential.
