Korean giant takes Ubisense solution

Richard Green, Ubisense CEO

Ubisense, the Cambridge UK-based smart location technology specialist, has clinched a new automotive installation deal that expands its footprint in Asia.

Hyundai Kia has joined a lengthening list of carmakers to adopt the Ubisense RTLS solution. It has deployed Ubisense on its assembly line manufacturing plant in South Korea.

Already deployed under global licence agreements by BMW and installed in their plants across Europe, Asia and North America, the product is increasingly becoming the de facto location-based automation solution as more vehicle manufacturers adopt the company’s technology across the globe.

Richard Green, Ubisense CEO, said: “The addition of Hyundai Kia significantly strengthens our position in Asia and highlights the increasing traction our RTLS product is gaining in the automotive market.

“Forward thinking companies in the region are now embracing the tool location solution already deployed by major automotive brands across Europe, particularly as there is a general flight to quality in the region.”

Other major automotive groups have already enjoyed significant benefit from adopting the tool location solution introduced over the past two years through Ubisense’s strategic partnership with industrial tool maker Atlas Copco.

Existing deployments of the market-leading tool location solution across major automotive groups, where hundreds of DC tools are performing 100,000s of tightening operations each day, provide significant ROI in typically less than 12 months to companies.
